Curry Leaf Hair Oil [Quarantine Day 18]

I have a mini indoor garden of which the main attractions are my curry leaf trees.

Like each winter, this year too, the trees had shed all their leaves. And like each year, I collected all those bowls full of leaves to use them in my DIY homemade skin and hair care products.

Coconut oil is fragrant and has many benefits and therefore I use it extensively in all my concoctions. I began by heating 3 cups of coconut oil over medium heat until it was fully melted.

To the melted oil, I added two bowls of curry leaves and crushed them using an immersion blender. Then I left the leaves to steep in the oil for 48 hours. After 48 hours, the oil mixture had solidified into a green, gooey mixture and so I warmed it up until all the solid oil had liquified. Then I strained the mixture and discarded the curry leaves.

That’s it. The antioxidant-rich oil is ready – it has a strong pleasant smell and keeps hair healthy and strong when used regularly.

I know, what can I say, I have a green thumb, lol. I can’t wait to take my plants outside as soon as the danger of frost has passed. As you can see, currently they’re growing fine, but would you believe it, a month ago, they were all almost bare.
