[Detangling] the Web of Attachments

Attachments are those invisible chains that tie us to our loved ones. Much like the warmth of sunlight, relationships bring immeasurable joy, lighting up the canvas of our existence with vibrant hues. However, it is in these very bonds that we discover the dual nature of attachments – both a source of profound happiness and the primary cause of our deepest sorrows.

Consider the relationships in our life – the ties that bind us to our loved ones. They providing comfort and support, but also become the roots of our emotional turbulence. As a parent, the bonds formed with our children are often the most profound and enduring connections we experience. The laughter, the shared moments, the sense of responsibility – these create a tapestry of emotions that define the parental experience. However, beneath the surface of this love lies the intricate dance of expectations, which bring joy and are also the source of profound challenges.

But in order to liberate our soul, we must begin to detangle this web of attachments. To that end, I evaluate every thought and every single interaction I have from the standpoint of how much new karma I am creating or expending.  Along with that, I’m working on learning equanimity.

Equanimity means a state of mental and emotional stability, marked by calmness and composure, even in challenging situations. It involves maintaining balance and a non-reactive mindset, navigating life with inner tranquility. Admitting my downfall as a highly emotional person, I find myself at ground zero in the equanimity column. Well, we all have to start somewhere, right? 😄

Breaking free from the cycle of birth and rebirth is WHAT EVERY SOUL WANTS. Non-attachment serves as the crucial first step to achieving that goal.

My book “What Every Soul Wants” sheds light on karma’s impact on our soul.
